What we make

Creative ideas, beautifully made.

Design and production live in the same studio, so we already know how a piece will be made while we are still drawing it. Come to us with an idea, not a production plan.

  • Stacked pink flyers for a crafts and food market, printed both sides.

    Business & marketing

Business cards, brochures, booklets and catalogues, stationery, menus, posters, folders. The everyday pieces, made like they matter.

  • A tasting menu card standing beside a red die-cut envelope closed with a small paper heart.

    Weddings & events

Invitation suites, save the dates, menus and programs, place cards, table numbers, seating charts, welcome signs, coasters and tags.

  • A signed black and white photographic print of a hawksbill turtle swimming over a reef.

    Fine art & photography

Archival giclée and canvas prints, artist reproductions, and scanning and colour correction of original work. Colour managed end to end.

  • Die-cut vinyl stickers of palm trees, a vintage car carrying a surfboard and beach chairs, with a round striped logo sticker.

    Stickers & labels

Vinyl stickers, die-cut and custom shapes, laminated labels. Short runs welcome — you do not need to order a thousand.

  • A large hand-lettered market poster printed on kraft stock.

    Specialty & custom

Foil, white specialty ink, soft-touch lamination, embossing, die-cut shapes and binding. Bespoke pieces and short-run custom production.

  • A stretched canvas of two fishermen in a small boat, resting on the studio floor.

    Custom framing

Picture framing for fine art and photography, canvas and floater framing, custom matting and mounting, frame and material selection.

Not sure which one you need? That is what the first conversation is for.

How it works

Five steps, none skipped.

Five steps from a conversation to something you can hold. Nothing skips ahead, and nothing goes out that we would not put our own name on.

  1. Before anything is drawn

    Conversation

Tell us what the piece has to do and who it is for. You do not need to arrive with a spec - working out the format, the material and the method is our half of the job.

  2. Drawn to be made

    Design

Artwork built by someone who already knows how it will be produced. The stock, the finish and the construction are decided with the design, not after it.

  3. Chosen, sourced, tested

    Materials

Paper, board, canvas, vinyl, foil, framing materials. We keep a curated selection and source specifically when a project needs something we do not stock.

  4. On the real material

    Proof

You approve something you can hold. Our monitors, printers and materials are profiled with a spectrophotometer, so what you sign off is what comes back.

  5. Often by hand

    Made

Printed, cut, foiled, bound, mounted or framed. Many pieces are finished and assembled by hand, which is what makes short runs and one-offs possible at all.

Creative director & founder

Meet Bárbara.

Magenta is led by Barbara, a graphic designer who learned print the long way round: on the floor of production houses in Barcelona, where a job is judged by the object that comes out at the end rather than the file that went in.

That is still how the studio runs. Design and production sit in the same room, which means the person drawing the artwork already knows what the stock, the ink and the finish are going to do with it.

Today Magenta prints for a long list of the island's hotels, restaurants and retailers, and works as the production partner behind several of Cayman's creative agencies.

Work with us

Before you ask

The questions everyone asks.

Straight answers, no quote form in the way. If what you need is not here, ask us directly.

What does Magenta do?

Magenta is a boutique graphic design and production studio in Grand Cayman. Design and production sit in the same room, so we take a project from the first idea through to the finished physical object rather than handing a file to someone else to make.

What can Magenta make?

Business cards, brochures, booklets, stationery, menus, posters and folders; wedding and event stationery from invitations through to signage; fine art and photography printing including giclée, canvas and framed work; vinyl and die-cut stickers and labels; and specialty pieces using foil, white ink, soft-touch lamination, embossing and custom die-cut shapes.

Do you design as well as produce?

Yes, and that is the point of the studio. Branding and visual identity, marketing collateral, editorial design, wedding and event stationery, menu design and print-ready artwork. You can arrive with a finished file or with nothing but an idea.

Do you offer custom framing?

Yes. Custom picture framing for fine art and photography, canvas and floater framing, custom matting and mounting, and help choosing the frame and materials. Because we print in-house too, a piece can be printed and framed in the same place.

Can you digitize and reproduce original artwork?

Yes. We scan original artwork at high quality, colour correct it, prepare it for reproduction and print archival fine art reproductions. Artists use this to turn one original into a print run without losing the character of the original.

Do you take on small quantities and one-off pieces?

Yes. We are not working from a catalogue of fixed products and sizes, and many pieces are finished or assembled by hand, which is what makes short runs and single custom pieces possible. It is a large part of why weddings, artists and small businesses come to us.

How do you make sure the colour is right?

We run a colour-managed workflow from design through to production, using spectrophotometer-based calibration and custom colour profiles for our monitors, printers and materials. That is what makes the colour on the finished print predictable rather than a surprise.

Can you make something that is not a standard print product?

That is the work we enjoy most. We develop non-standard pieces, source and test materials, prototype, combine different materials and production methods, and work to custom sizes and shapes. If an idea does not fit a standard print catalogue, bring it to us.

Where is Magenta based?

Grand Cayman, in the Cayman Islands. We work with businesses, individuals, artists, photographers, restaurants, hospitality brands, weddings and events across the island.

Let’s make something real.

Tell us what you want made, roughly how many, and when it has to exist. If you are not sure how it should be produced, that is fine - say so and we will work it out.
